Microblading Healing
With every client I take the time to help them understand how their new microblading will look and feel during healing. Healing takes about 4-6 weeks; though your tattoo can appear visibly healed around 10 days. Please note you won’t see true results and pigment color until that 4-6-week mark.
During healing the brows will go through many different stages; trust the process. This is a breakdown of what you can expect your tattoo to look and feel like during the healing.
*Note that everyone heals at different rates this is a general guide.
Right After:
Your brows may appear dark and too large. The pigment appears too dark because it's sitting on the surface of the skin and hasn't healed in. This color will soften over the next few weeks and your end pigment color will be 30-50% lighter. It's completely natural for you skin to be swollen after the procedure, this will make your brows appear too large. Once healed the brows will be 20-30% smaller.
DAY 1-2:
The tattooed area will still appear dark, bold and heavier in size then you desire. You will most likely be a little swollen still. You can still have redness and tenderness in the procedure site.
DAY 3-5:
Your skin is now forming scabs and the eyebrows will appear thicker in texture. The scabbing process will also make your brows appear too dark. Some clients start to feel itchy during at this time; make sure you don't scratch: sit on your hands, add a little more ointment or tap your forehead.
DAY 5-7:
At this point your scabs have completely formed and now are starting to flake off. Let all the flaking fall off naturally; picking can cause scarring, loss of pigment and/or infection.
Once the scabs fall off the pigment color underneath may appear too light. This is part of your skin’s natural regenerating and exfoliating process. Some pigment will disappear and re-appear in 2-3 weeks.
DAY 7-10:
The skin is now flaking off the rest of the scabs. Some clients experience a shining layer of skin will completely cover the hair strokes.
Some unevenness of color and loss of strokes is expected after scabbing has flaked off. Some lose around 10-15% of their strokes. This is the purpose for the touchup visit booked 4-6 weeks after initial session.
Once the flakes have fallen off, the color will slowly start to reappear over the next couple weeks.
Healing takes about 4-6 weeks; though your tattoo can appear visibly healed around 10 days. Please note you won’t see true results and pigment color until that 4-6-week mark.
